Alternative onsite sewage disposal system application files, 1980-1987.

Part of the division's responsibilities is to review and approve plans for alternative onsite sewage disposal systems for areas where soils are unsuitable for conventional septic tank systems. This series consists of completed applications for a permit to install an alternative onsite sewage disposal system providing name and address of property owner, property size, water supply system, sewage system, number of bedrooms, soil evaluation data, and titles of other documents attached. Also included are construction plans prepared by engineers to detail information pertinent to the design, construction, installation, operation and maintenance of the alternative system, sketches of the site, permits to install the sytem, inspection records, installer's certification of construction, approvals for use of the system, and correspondence. Beginning 1988, the division delegated the authority to review and approve alternative onsite sewage systems to the county public health departments if the designs comply with the alternative systems approved by the division. For other variations the division will consider and approve each system on a case-by-case basis and these records will be filed with the County Sanitation Files (S-35-115).
